NEPA meets Mr. Smooth

On a wet and windy night at 'As you Like It', members of NEPA were treated to an intimate and exclusive evening with GMG Radio's Chief Executive John Myers.

Famed in the North East for his role as breakfast show presenter 'Morgan in the Morning' on Century Fm in the 1990s, John was back to talk about the impending launch of his new station Smooth Radio.

NEPA's Vice Chairman, Mark Patterson posed the questions, as John gave his typically honest and forthright comments on a range of issues concerning the radio industry, commercial radio, and the North East.

Those who were fortunate to make the event, were lucky enough to be given an insight into GMG Radio's plans for North East, the role of Smooth Radio in the North East marketplace, and whether we would ever see 'Morgan in the Morning' making a comeback!

Making the most of the opportunity, our Vice Chairman also asked whether GMG Radio would be bidding for Emap's radio division... and John duly answered - but OFF the record!

John finished off the evening in style, sending the audience home with plenty of funny stories from his on air days! Smooth Radio officially launched on 8th January 2008 at 8am, and can be found on 97.5 & 107.7 FM.
